Question: Is the Canon DM-50 microphone compatible with the Canon 60D camera? Thanks.

i hav canon7 d i wan shoot music video how do i get the film look?

RayAKA@PodcastHelper February 6, 2012 at 9:54 am

Shoot at 24fps with a 1/50th shutter speed (do not change this setting), shallow depth of field using a small aperture and color grade in post production for the film look. Go to Vimeo.com and search for the film look with DSLR. You should find plenty of info, tutorials and examples. Thanks Lamar.

How do I get rid that hissing sound in the background when I record

RayAKA@PodcastHelper February 8, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Hi Edward. That's a really open ended question. The problem is everyone deals with some kind of hiss at some point but the problem is different in each case.

There are several places where you could be receiving hiss into your recordings. Even some as slight as a computer fan can leak into your recording and take shape as hiss.

Cheap microphones are another culprit. If you are plugged directly into your computer, the sound card could be the issue.

Diagnosing hiss can be tedious. It requires that you remove each element of your system one at a time and test it out. Remove pieces in the recording chain until you no longer hear hiss and then work your way back, fixing the source.

Much more detail about your setup would be helpful. What gear are you using, how are you recording the audio (digital recorder, into the computer, etc), recording environment, etc. Thanks.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for visiting the site. I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here but if you mean iPhones and existing audio gear that you already have then certainly you can put something together. Even simple web cams and usb mics will allow you to produce some decent talking head video but I'll send you an email and find out more.

Hi Ray,

Bravo to all the work you do and thank you.

I need an opinion from a master of podcasting: I am an HBO/Cinemax Creator/Producer/Director of late night episodics and films for Cinemax. My wife is hall of fame adult performer (and Howard Stern favorite) Tabitha Stevens. We are creating a podcast for Tabitha targeted to the more notorious aspects of celebrity, entertainment, and entertainment (she's got a book coming out next year). We've been producing Network level TV/Movies for years so the tech part is not an issue.

The advice I seek: In our shoes would you title the show 1) "The Tabitha Stevens Show", or something along the lines of 2) "The Wild Life with Tabitha Stevens"? In other words thinking long term and given Tabitha's status is it enough to use just her name or would it be much smarter to give the show a more definitive subject as a title then add the "with Tabitha Stevens" at the end?

Special thanks in advance and again really love your work. Bravo.

Good Thoughts- Gary Orona

Hi Gary,

I think if your target audience and the people you expect to listen to the show are Tabitha fans, then relying on her name alone will likely be OK because that is the brand. The "Wild Life of" doesn't really add anything to the context of the show. If you can more clearly define the content of the show in the title, then you might want to add that in.

However, you can just go with her name and then add a subtitle that more clearly explains what people will get when they subscribe to the podcast.

I hope that helps. Good luck with your podcasting ventures. Let me know if you need anymore help with your setup.

Ray
