When embedding your audio and/or video file into your blog and/or website, make sure to include a text hyperlink to the raw file. This will allow users on mobile devices such as iphones and ipads to download and listen to your podcast.
This is also how some people prefer to receive your content. Some people would rather go to your webpage and be able to save your file to their computer so that they can migrate the audio or video to whatever player they choose. This is yet another yet to make sure you podcast is available for anyone who wants to play it.

Does anyone know of any "download link" widget that will work with "wordpress.com" sites?

Vibe, I don't know about any widgets for this but almost certainly it's better handled by simply typing up some text like "right-click to download" and then making that a hyperlink to your .mp3 file, the same link you used in your player. This would be the best method.
